Our Story

A Legacy of Dance, Passion, and Excellence

A Family Business | Since 1979

Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios was established in North Andover in September 1979 — owned and operated by Nancy Chippendale Carberry, her husband Bob Carberry, and their three daughters, Karen, Kelli, and Krissy. Nancy opened her doors with just ten students, teaching out of the Grange Hall in North Andover's Old Center. Each year brought more students, a growing faculty, and a growing facility. Today, Nancy Chippendale's is one of the largest private dance studios in the country, with locations in North Andover, MA, Windham, NH, and Newburyport, MA.

Our Faculty

Guiding and Inspiring the

Next Generation of Dancers

Our faculty brings together decades of real teaching experience and a genuine love for this art form. Many built careers in dance long before joining CHIPPS — as performers, choreographers, and studio owners in their own right. Others grew up dancing in these very classes and returned after professional careers of their own. What unites them isn't where they started — it's the depth of craft, discipline, and care they bring to every class, every day.

Our Facilities

Designed for Learning, Movement,

and Growth

CHIPPS studios are true, dedicated dance facilities. Our rooms are large, bright, and built for real training — with professional sprung dance flooring designed to protect growing bodies and support real technique as dancers advance. Across our 12 studios and three locations, from our youngest dancers taking their first class to our most advanced teams perfecting a routine, every studio is built to give your dancer room to move, grow, and shine. This is a facility built the way dance deserves to be taught.

Dance with Purpose.

It's about so much more than dancing. Every year, CHIPPS dancers learn there's more to this art form than technique and competition — there's the chance to make a real difference. Through "Dance For Janie", we've led every studio in the country in fundraising for three years running, raising almost $100,000 combined. Every few years, we also raise and donate $25,000 to the NYCDA Scholarship Foundation supporting the next generation of dancers nationwide. This is what CHIPPS dancers carry with them long after they leave the studio.

Our Awards

Recognized Excellence

CHIPPS is a proud member of Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, the International Dance Organization, and our local Merchants Association. Nancy Chippendale was named 2019 SDA Dance Teacher of the Year, and our dancers have earned more than 40 World Dance Championship titles through IDO, along with Star Dance Alliance National Championship titles every year since 2015 — a testament to the training and dedication behind every class we teach.

Our Alumni

Always a CHIPP ... Where are they now?

Once a CHIPP, always a CHIPP — and it shows. Our alumni have gone on to careers as professional dancers, choreographers, and studio owners, with credits in film and television. Others have become doctors, surgeons, lawyers, politicians, and business owners. Wherever their path led, dance was part of building who they became.
